The red dot, as you can see above, can either be red or green for a variety of shooting conditions. For target shooting and quick movements, I love using a red dot as you can pick up close to medium range targets very quickly. This sight allows for rapid target acquisition, as there is no magnification level (just simply a lens with a red dot in the middle). Resting on top of the variable zoom scope is the red dot sight. This is crucial and the adjustment feels crisp and tight. Along those lines, the scope does have elevation and windage adjustments for all scopes. There are a few mil dots for on the fly adjustment. I found the red was great in low light, as it just highlighted the reticle enough for extra visibility. These reticles can either be a standard black (which is the default and also is what will be displayed without batteries) or it can be an illuminated red or green. When we peak down the scope, we can see the reticles displayed below. When choosing a scope, this coating and construction is a must, I wouldn’t do anything less than multi-coated and fog-resistant. This construction can help prevent any sort of moisture inside the scope, which would really screw it up.īeyond the fog proofing, the lens is multi-coated and scratch resistant which provides both protection and allows for adequate light to penetrate and brighten up what you are seeing. For extra fog resistance, the scope is also nitrogen purged with O-ring sealing. It is constructed of all metal pieces that seem durable enough and have a nice deep black anodization. All you have to do is adjust it and off you go! This is my preferred set up on an AR-15 scope as it allows you to use it in a variety of scenarios. In fact, it probably should be thrown into our review on the great scopes in the $100 to $200 range, but surprisingly it still makes the under $100 cut! Scope and Reticle Overviewįirst and foremost, let’s chat about the scope! This scope has variable zoom (magnification) where it can take the target from 2x size to 10x size and anywhere in between. Honestly, it looks just like some of the more expensive units out there. The overall construction of the scope is of very high quality metals with a deep, black anodzed finish. This may seem unimportant, however, it suggests the company certainly cares about presentation! It comes with a thick cardboard box with tightly packed foam that is customized to fit the scope and the accessories. Limited mil-dots for on the fly height adjustments.įirst off, the original packaging when we received the scope was awesome.Red dot has been reported to be a bit low quality.Easy install to Picatinny or Weaver rails.Fog Proof and shock proof (nitrogen purged).Affordable (under $100, but pricing does change).Includes full variable zoom (2.5x – 10x) scope, red dot sight, and laser. The integrated red dot scope and laser were certainly an appreciated bonus to the scope and I found I used the red dot much more than I thought I would. Overall, we were very impressed by the build quality and performance of the UUQ.
